Loving God Does Not Make You a Bigot

Let’s momentarily embrace that an almighty power called God is responsible for your existence. When you dive into the Old Testament, many people fixate on some of the horrific things discussed within its pages. They even question the backlash often called the “wrath of God.”

First of all, God created man in his image. This means you have the power of God within your very soul, whether you believe in it or not. However, God did not make humans without the capacity of choice, just as your mother and father created you without the ability to govern your actions once born into the world. The same applies to God creating man. He is our father, but he cannot regulate our choices, which can result in tragic or blessed outcomes.

In the Old Testament, it quickly becomes clear how evil and flawed human beings are. Murder, rape, incest, and even sacrifice are explored in the Bible. This immediately becomes the foundation for most non-believers’ arguments regarding an almighty God allowing terrible things to happen.

What they don’t comprehend is the frustration within God when he sees how people begin to turn their back on him and make choices that go against everything he intended for us. We became so wicked and corrupt that he was left with no choice but to flood the earth of its living creatures (exempting those aboard Noah’s Ark) and essentially start over.

Unfortunately, as time passed, humans quickly revealed their sinful nature again.

If you’re a parent, what happens when your child repeatedly doesn’t listen to you? What happens when they constantly disrespect you or go against everything you tried to teach them? You get frustrated. You get upset! Now imagine you had over one million children you loved dearly, but they were killing each other, using each other, lying, deceiving, hurting, and attacking one another. What do you do when the ultimate consequence of wiping the earth clean doesn’t work?

You try to save them. It’s what any loving parent would do, but it does not come without a choice. Like addicts becoming sober, they have to accept being saved before they allow the help of a loved one to offer their support and guidance. So God decided to save his children, but many did not, and still do not want, to accept this gracious gift. Why? Because corrupt souls harbor anger and hatred. They twist the word of God into unethical and immoral dogma. Humans are responsible for this, not God!

Jesus Christ was sent to save our souls. He performed miracles and brought God’s light to a dark and gloomy world. He loved everyone, even his enemies, and died one of the most painful deaths known to man. He was abused, spit on, and suffered a death unimaginable within a public setting. He was an innocent man put to death for “blasphemy.” People hated him because of the miracles he performed and his claim of being the son of God. He preached the word of God and gave hope to many living in trying and troubled times.

The truth is, he saved us ALL from eternal damnation by dying for us on the cross. Regardless of your sins, he died for everyone, and all he asked in return was that you accept him as your lord and savior. He never commanded them to and doesn’t command you to, but he does give you the choice to.

So why in the world have people labeled individuals who love and praise Jesus Christ as “bigots”? The same reason the townspeople spat on and abused Jesus. The same reason he suffered immeasurable pain being nailed to that cross by his own people. Because humans are corrupt, they are hateful and bitter. They segregate each other and twist narratives to fit their comfort zones, not realizing we are all the same creation loved equally by Jesus and God.

Remember that God and Jesus did not invent the church, nor did they say you need to be part of a religion or congregation to be considered worthy of their love and forgiveness. Man did that. Man invented rules regarding God’s love and their probability of getting into heaven.

The truth is, regardless of your sins, God loves you, and he wants you to live in heaven once your body expires your soul. He wants that so desperately for you that he sent his only son to earth to die for you.

It is the greatest love story of all time.

You hear a lot of people say, “I was saved,” and often roll your eyes and believe it’s another way of people admitting they are going to now abide by God’s “rules.” But there are no rules, only love! You have to accept him. It’s that simple.

We were all saved thousands of years ago when Jesus hung on that cross and took his last breath for us. Whether you’re gay, straight, unfaithful, faithful, truthful, or lying, God accepts you. That doesn’t mean he has to agree with you or your choices. God had a plan when he made us. That is why men and women fit together so perfectly in procreation. It is why we often balance each other out in so many ways.

However, as the bible reveals, we are not who God intended us to be when he first constructed Adam and Eve. It’s the same as your children not turning out who you imagined them to be. Does it make you love them any less? Absolutely not.

Do you want the truth? God loves everybody! He loves all of us regardless of our mistakes or choices. He’s there for you no matter what and will always guide you when you open your heart to him. The truth is man created bigotry—just more sins created by man that were camouflaged as the scripture of God’s word.

God does not know bigotry. He loves every race, gender, and person; he even loves those who have lost their way and turned their back on him. His love is eternal, however, just as he damned people in the old testament for their sins. Those of you who refused to accept his ultimate sacrifice, Jesus Christ, as your savior are destined to the same fate after death as your Old Testament ancestors. You have a choice, and God’s given you the easiest, most extraordinary gift of all: love, acceptance, forgiveness, and eternal life in paradise.

You have to embrace what he’s done for you, just as you expect your children to show gratitude for the gifts you’ve given them.

I’ve never been scared of dying simply bc my relationship with my creator and savior has become more vital than ever as I’ve overcome many hardships and grown older. God’s love for me saved my life in so many ways. I know that this life on earth is not forever, and I guess I find extreme comfort in knowing what lies beyond the grave for me.

It will not be the end but a beautiful beginning. I’ll spend an eternity surrounded by all my loved ones, one day living in the ultimate paradise.

While SOME churches and religions have represented God and Jesus in a judgemental light, taking the time to read the bible on your own and talk to God personally- you’ll begin to see how everything you thought you knew about his love for humanity was wrong all this time.

Your creator saved you, hoping to bring more love, kindness, and unity to this world. Unfortunately, humans have continued the toxic cycle since the beginning of time. We are still hurting each other, judging each other, and hating each other when all God has wanted for us is to love one another and believe in the love he and his holy son have for us. Open your heart and embrace them. They love you beyond measure, more than you could ever comprehend.
